Yoshi Silverstein

Yoshi Silverstein (he/him) is Founder & Executive Director of Mitsui Collective, a nonprofit organization which cultivates pathways towards Jewish embodiment with a vision of fully activating thriving, resilient, healthy, and diverse communities that embody Jewish values of equity, justice, compassion, and belonging in all our ways of being. A Chinese-Ashkenazi-American Jew and a multidisciplinary practitioner of embodied creative expression and spiritual exploration, Yoshi is a 2022 Pomegranate Prize recipient from The Covenant Foundation, and a 2021 “Grist 50 Fixer” building a more just and equitable future. Yoshi earned his Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture at University of Maryland with a thesis exploring Jewish landscape journey and experience; and certificates in spiritual entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, permaculture design, and environmental education. He holds a 2nd degree blackbelt in Lotus Kajukenbo (from Spokane's Lotus Self Defense Academy), is currently learning and practicing Shuai Chiao Kung Fu (green belt) and Ch’ang style Tai Chi, and is an avid aficionado of Chinese Roast Duck. Born and raised in Spokane, Yoshi now lives in the Cleveland area on Erie, Mississauga, and Haudenosaunee land with his wife and daughter.
