Chapter & Committees

St. John’s has several committees that oversee various aspects of the life of the church. These usually have four-eight invited members and meet regularly.

Adult Faith Formation
This group focuses on the visioning, planning, and execution of meaningful programming throughout the church year, particularly during the weekly Sunday forum and annual Lenten book study.

Cathedral Life Committee
Rooted in hospitality, this group seeks to welcome all who enter the Cathedral. Volunteers of all ages come together to provide refreshment for coffee hours and community meals.  

Children, Youth, and Families Committee
This committee works to encourage formation in children and youth and support families in their journey of faith. They coordinate Sunday morning programs and extra gatherings throughout the year.

Communications Committee
Striving to inform and inspire, this group works to facilitate good communication within the congregation and beyond. It oversees the various publications, including the Friday e-blast and the Chimes newsletter.

Finance Committee
This group assures that the cathedral stays on solid financial ground. They rely on both the Cathedral Treasurer and the Cathedral Bookkeeper to manage the budget and books. 

Outreach Committee
Committed to helping people locally and regionally, this group manages donations to local nonprofits, organizes the collection of supplies and gifts to local organizations, and networks with other faith-based institutions.

Property Committee
Caring for the beautiful building and grounds is the focus of this group. They manage routine maintenance, plan bigger projects, and deal with any emergencies. A subcommittee attends to the landscaping to keep it beautiful all year around.

Stewardship Committee
This committee works to encourage giving among the members of the cathedral, knowing that personal contributions of time, talent, and money can have a significant impact on the community and the giver.
