The St. John’s Concert Series presents inspiring musical performances in the stunning gothic architecture of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in both concert and liturgical settings. Musical offerings include our own choral and instrumental ensembles in addition to featuring guest solo and chamber performances.
The Concert Series program has featured numerous local and visiting artists including Lukas Hasler, ICantori of Walla Walla University, Wesley Arai, Zeru Wang, Brewster Quartet, Selkirk Quintet, Jeanne Bourgeois, and YunJung Park.
Fall 2026

Sunday, Sept. 27: GUESTS ARTIST – Album release; CATACLYSM; 5pm

Last heard at St. John’s Celtic Crossings concert, Celtic harpist Kathlyn Kinney, violinist Deanna Sarkar and guitarist/composer Chris Stark share music from their new album: CATACLYSM: Waking into the Divine Dream. A harp, violin, electronica and orchestral experience to waken our souls to the love of God.

Saturday, October 31: Haunted Cathedral Concert; 7pm

Halloween tricks got you spooked? Tired of pretending you’re not home while sitting in the dark? Treat yourself to a spooky evening concert at St. John’s Cathedral! Sit a spell in our gothic architecture while you enjoy some haunting music from Organist Chris King, and Carillonneur Catherine Lupien. Treats provided. Costumes optional! Suggested donation: A non-perishable food item to benefit St. John’s Outreach

*Sunday, November 1: All Saints Evensong; 5pm

Celebrate the Saints (past and present) through the singing of Evensong. A long-standing Anglican tradition and annual tradition for St. John’s, please join us to sing and honor the Saints that have walked before us and the saints that walk beside us.

Proceeds from your plate offering will go towards the Music Ministry special services.

*Sunday, November 29: ADVENT Lessons and Carols; 5pm

The season of Advent is one of hopeful anticipation as we await the birth of Jesus. All our music ensembles come together to celebrate the start of the Advent season for this traditional service of ADVENT Lessons and Carols. Proceeds from your plate offering will go towards the Music Ministry special services.

*Tuesday, December 22: GUEST ARTISTS – Clarion Brass; 7:30pm

Clarion Brass is back again to ‘Deck the (Cathedral) Hall’ featuring one-of-a-kind arrangements for Brass Choir by local composer, William Berry, and the talented members of Clarion Brass! Conducted by St. John’s Director of Music Ministry Dr. Andrea Olsen, this is a Christmas tradition you won’t want to miss!

Spring 2027

*Sunday, January 24: Evening Mass for Peace; 5pm

ALL are welcome to join the Cathedral Choir for an intimate and beautiful choral setting of The Dushe Moya Mass by David T. Gortner. Proceeds from your plate offering will go towards worldwide peace efforts through the Episcopal Church.

Sunday, February 21: GUEST ARTISTS – EWU Chamber Artists; 5pm

The talented Music faculty (and friends!) of Eastern Washington University present chamber music favorites. Experience the natural beauty of the Cathedral Architecture (and Acoustics!) while enjoying the un-plugged and intimate beauty of Chamber music.

Sunday, March 7: Piano, Prayer, and Poetry for Lent; 5pm

A quiet, reflective experience mid-way through the Season of Lent. Not sure how or what to pray? At a loss for words? Lenten Prayers and Poetry will be posted throughout the Sanctuary. You can read, reflect and sit with these words while listening to the backdrop of heart-felt piano stylings by pianist Benjamin True. Leave the sounds of your busy life outside and experience the quiet awe and architectural wonder of the Cathedral space.

Sunday, March 14: Celtic Crossings; 5pm

Celebrate the Feast of Saint Patrick with song and dance! Kick up your heels and join us for a ‘reel’-y great time with the Spokane Folklore Society, the Spokane Irish Session Players, Irish dancers from MSD Dance Academy, and musicians from the St. John’s Music Ministry. Suggested donation: $15 at the door.

Friday, March 26: Good Friday CONCERT: Reflections on the Cross; 7pm

Ready yourself for the drama of Christ’s Resurrection as told through the eyes of Pilate, Claudia and the gathered crowd. St. John’s Cathedral Singers present ‘Saturday, 29 AD’ by Mark Scwheizer, followed by a service of Passion Readings and Music from St. James Music Press. Proceeds from your plate offering will go towards the Music Ministry special services.

Sunday, April 18: Sing to the Lord! An Ecumenical Choral Concert; 5pm

This second annual ecumenical concert will feature Franz Schubert’s Mass in C Major sung by the combined forces of guest choirs and chamber orchestra of our friends in Christ throughout the area with Logan Shevalier directing. Each group will also showcase choral favorites from their respective music traditions.

Sunday, May 24:  GUEST ARTISTS: Nightingale Cello Ensemble; 5pm

What’s better than one cello? TWO! Cellists Louise Butler and Cheryl Carney collaborate with pianist Rachelle Ventura to form the Nightingale Cello Ensemble offering music that truly sings! Guaranteed to set your spirit free and let your soul take flight!

Sunday, July 4: Festive Carillon Concert, w/ guest artist Wesley Arai; NOON

An annual tradition for St. John’s, we welcome guest Carillonneur, Wesley Arai to serenade us from the bells of the Cathedral tower. Featuring patriotic songs, festive American melodies, and more! Picnic style lunch provided by Cathedral Life Ministry. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to enjoy this FREE concert from anywhere on the Cathedral grounds.
