Outreach MinistriesOutreach Committee. The Outreach Committee continually looks for needs in our community and coordinates financial and hands-on support for those needs, including Crosswalk, Shalom Ministries, Catholic Charities, Cup of Cool Water, Meals on Wheels and Interfaith Hospitality. This committee also sponsors events in coordination with Cathedral programs to raise additional funds for outreach purposes.
Pastoral Care Team. The Pastoral Care Team, including both lay and clergy members, visits the sick, the grieving, and those confined to homes or in nursing facilities and hospitals, and maintains contact with those on the Prayer List.
Cathedral Guides/Open Door Hospitality. The Guides offer hospitality and tours to newcomers and visitors to the Cathedral. Tours are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from noon to 3:00 p.m. and Sundays following the 11:00 service. Special tours can be arranged by appointment. Volunteers are always welcome. Marsden Scholarships. Endowed by the estate of long-time Cathedral member Dorothy Marsden, these scholarships are established to help high school graduates residing within the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane to attend competitive colleges and universities. A committee of the Cathedral Chapter determines scholarships to be awarded the spring of each year. Information and an application form is available here.
St. John's Properties. Established in 1973 as a separate corporation with board members named by the Cathedral Chapter, the mission of St. John's Properties is to provide affordable housing for elderly people in the Spokane area, currently maintaining 244 apartments eligible for subsidy, 125 at Canterbury Court, 1010 South Rockwood Blvd., and 119 at Winchester Court, 4100 North Cook Street.
Youth Group Mission Trip. Each year our Youth Group raises funds for and embarks on a mission trip to help with a project for which focused volunteer work is needed, donating their own time and labor.
Book Store and Gift Shop. The Cathedral Book Store and Gift Shop, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, makes available specialty educational and inspirational items not readily available elsewhere, and supports various ministries which might otherwise be underfunded, including Camp Cross, youth ministries, special service leaflets for special occasions, and enhancements to the fabric of the Cathedral. |
