Service League and Guilds

Church Service League. The Church Service League coordinates activities between and among the Cathedral guilds, organizes the Annual Bazaar, contributes to the work of the congregation, organizes coffee hours and funeral receptions, oversees kitchen activities and operates The Windfall, the Service League's Perry Street area thrift store. Each guild is represented on the Board.

Altar Guild. Members of the the Altar Guild serve God in His sanctuary by setting up for the liturgies, caring for sacred vessels, linens and other accoutrements of the altar, tending to the candles, caring for the memorial flowers and decorating the Cathedral for holidays. Because the work of the Altar Guild is so intertwined with the liturgy members are, by tradition, appointed by the Dean. Anyone interested in participating in this ministry is encouraged to make an appointment with the Dean.

Bishop's Guild. Open to anyone in the Diocese of Spokane, the Bishop's Guild supports the work of the Bishop. Two annual fund raising events contribute to the Bishop's Discretionary Fund and the Bishop's Scholarship Fund, and the guild accepts other responsibilities as requested by the Bishop.

St. Catherine's and St. Frances' Guild. This guild supports youth programs generally, with emphasis on support for the Servers (Acolytes) program, especially acolytes' vestments and activities.

Growers' Guild. Members of the Growers' Guild share interests and enthusiasm about gardening and growing things, including spiritual growth. This guild purchases, plants and cares for some of the landscaping around the Cathedral Close (the grounds surrounding Cathedral buildings).

St. Monica's Guild. This guild supports children’s and youth groups and promotes the service of women in the Cathedral. It also catering services for many Cathedral events as part of its ministry, and for other events to raise funds for its ministries.

St. Nicholas' Guild. St. Nicholas' Guild supports Christian Education, especially for children and young people, including Vacation Church School, and other ministries and needs as appropriate, including Second Sunday concerts, Crosswalk, Meals on Wheels, Cup of Cool Water, and contributions to the fabric of the Cathedral and its facilities.

The Cathedral Landscape Association. Funds development and improvement of the Cathedral Close. Membership is not limited to Cathedral members but includes anyone interested in maintaining and enhancing the Cathedral as a public trust of the Spokane community which draws many visitors and provides inspiration to the entire city.
